The Wolf and the Lamb

Once, a hungry wolf wandered through the forest, looking for food. Soon, he spotted a little lamb drinking water from a clear stream. The wolf’s mouth watered as he imagined a tasty meal. But instead of attacking right away, the clever wolf decided to trick the lamb.

The wolf walked over and growled, “How dare you drink water here and make it dirty for me!” The lamb was puzzled. “But, sir,” said the lamb softly, “the water is flowing from your side to mine. I can’t be muddying it.”

The wolf, frustrated but not ready to give up, tried again. “Last year, you insulted me!” he accused. The lamb, shaking with fear, replied, “But I wasn’t even born last year!” The wolf knew he was running out of excuses. Angry and determined, he snarled, “Enough! I don’t need a reason to eat you!”

Just as the wolf was about to pounce, a shepherd who had been nearby saw what was happening. He ran over, shouting and waving his staff. The wolf, startled and frightened, ran away into the forest. The lamb, saved by the brave shepherd, was relieved and grateful.

The story shows that sometimes, those in power might try to be unfair, but help can come from unexpected places. The lamb learned to be careful and was thankful for the shepherd’s courage.

The end.
